How to Move Files From an FTP Server to the Cloud
To move files from an FTP server to cloud storage, distinguish an inbound connected-storage transfer from a client-mediated copy. Seedr supports account-based protocol access, but a desktop FTP client can still route bytes through your computer. Test the intended route before moving a library.
Know which direction the connection uses
Accessing Seedr from an FTP or SFTP client is different from connecting an external server inside Seedr. The current pricing table distinguishes protocol access from connected storage. Check the protocol and direction shown in your account before assuming a server-to-server transfer.
Copy with a file client
Open the account endpoint and protocol details shown in Seedr settings.
Configure the authorized source and destination in a compatible client.
Copy one small file and confirm whether the client routes data through your machine.
Check the destination, then copy a bounded folder before scheduling more work.
Avoid destructive synchronization
Begin with copy operations. A mirror or sync command can remove destination files absent from the source. Keep the original until the result has been checked, and document whether the workflow needs local staging space.
Choose copy or mount deliberately
Use the endpoint and credentials shown in your own Seedr account; do not copy an example password.
Confirm your plan includes the protocol. FTP, SFTP and WebDAV are different connections.
A mount still transfers data and may cache locally. Test a small file, permissions and reconnection before adding a library.
Frequently asked questions
Does a network mount remove the need for internet?
No. Reading uncached cloud data requires a connection. Some clients also keep local cache files.
Does Seedr run my media server?
No. Plex and Jellyfin still need their own running server. Seedr can supply files to a compatible mounted or copied library.
